WARREN, Ark. – The Warren Municipal Airport has recently played a small role in precautionary regional disaster preparedness efforts, as a small fleet of maintenance trucks from Tradewind Controls, a power operator based in Midland, Texas, was stationed there over the past few days. This strategic staging was part of a larger regional plan in anticipation of Hurricane Ernesto potentially threatening the Gulf Coast region.
The vehicles were positioned at the airport as a precautionary measure in case Hurricane Ernesto entered the Gulf of Mexico and posed a significant threat to the Gulf Coast. However, as the hurricane’s path shifted eastward into the Atlantic, the immediate need for the trucks was alleviated. Despite this change in the storm’s trajectory, the trucks were ready to provide rapid assistance to southern states if required.
Tradewind Controls reached out to the City of Warren with a request to utilize the airport for this purpose, and the City promptly agreed, recognizing the importance of being prepared for all possible scenarios.
As of Thursday the vehicles were still in place, however Ernesto is tracking far to the east into the Atlantic.
