MONTICELLO, Ark. – Scott Saffold of Monticello has been elected as the chairman of the University of Arkansas Foundation, Inc., beginning his two-year term on July 1, 2024. The UA Foundation, which serves the entire University of Arkansas System, is responsible for advancing higher education through securing private financial support for the university’s various units and activities.
Saffold brings extensive experience to his new role. He currently serves as the executive vice president and senior loan officer at Union Bank & Trust in Monticello, where he has been a key figure since 2005. A proud alumnus of the University of Arkansas at Monticello (UAM), Saffold earned his Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and holds certification as a public accountant.
His professional credentials are further bolstered by his completion of the Leadership Arkansas Class V and his graduation from the Southwest Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University’s Cox School of Business. Saffold is deeply involved in civic and nonprofit work, serving on several boards, including the UAM board of visitors and the UAM Foundation Fund board of directors.
In addition to his new responsibilities as chairman of the UA Foundation, Saffold continues to contribute to the banking sector as the treasurer of the Arkansas Bankers Association and as vice chairman of the UAM board of visitors.
The UA Foundation’s primary mission is to support higher education across the University of Arkansas System. The foundation manages over $2.9 billion in assets, which it receives, invests, and distributes to benefit the university’s campuses.
Saffold’s leadership is expected to further strengthen the foundation’s efforts in advancing education and supporting the university’s mission across the state.
