MONTICELLO, Ark. – The Great American Conference released its 2024 preseason coaches poll for Women’s Golf on Wednesday afternoon. Fourth-year Head Coach Ken Hamilton and the rest of the women’s golf program were voted in 10th overall as the fall season nears opening.
During the 2023-24 season, the Blossoms closed out the GAC tournament with a 9th-place finish as senior Chiara Sturaro undoubtedly led the team throughout the event. She closed out the final round of the GAC tournament tied for 8th place in her performance.
Henderson State, once again, successfully defended their title at the GAC Championships, taking their fourth straight tournament win. They return 2023-24 First-Team selection Felisa Sajulga and 2023 Freshman of the Year Lily Nelson. Sajulga registered five top-10 finishes while Nelson, who only competed in two regular-season tournaments and the three postseason events, finished inside the top eight in all five starts.
Southwestern Oklahoma State edged out Harding and Arkansas Tech for second place in the poll, taking three first-place votes.
The Lady Bisons took third, after their second-place finish in the 2023-24 GAC Championships. The Golden Suns were voted fourth and Oklahoma Baptist claimed fifth.
Southern Nazarene, Northwestern Oklahoma State, Southeastern Oklahoma State, and Southern Arkansas rounded out the voting above UAM.
