WARREN, Ark. – The Warren tennis team faced off against White Hall on Monday in a challenging non-conference match. The Lumberjacks emerged victorious, winning 7 out of 10 matches, with standout performances in both singles and doubles play.
In the girls’ singles, Jaycee Courtney secured a hard-fought 8-5 victory in a pro set, while Alley Vance dominated her coed match with an 8-1 win. The girls’ doubles teams also had a strong showing, with Ava Denton and Anna Arroyo winning their tie-breaker set 7-1 after a 10-10 pro set tie, Natalee Harmon and Naideth Pahuamba winning 8-5, and Gabby Richardson and Mia Johnson taking a solid 6-1 victory.
On the boys’ side, the doubles team of Angel Herron and David Rawls won their match 8-6, while Herron paired with Braylen Watson to secure another 8-5 victory.
Head Tennis Coach Micah Richey expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance, highlighting the benefits of playing a tougher non-conference schedule. “We wanted to play a harder non-conference schedule this year to get a better look at some competition. Going from playing a 6 game set to an 8 game set is quite a bit different, but I was very pleased with how the kids handled it. The experience we got in playing longer matches, with several of them going near 2 hours, was great for testing our endurance. We also were able to get some tie breaker sets which prepares us for district at the end of the season.”
Warren will host Camden for their first conference match on Tuesday, August 27, and they aim to carry the momentum from this strong performance into the rest of the season.
