RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced its 2024 preseason coaches poll on Thursday afternoon. Veteran Boll Weevil Head Coach Hud Jackson and the rest of the Weevil Football program were voted eighth overall.
Coming off a heartbreaking 60-17 loss to conference rival Southern Arkansas in the Battle of the Timberlands to conclude their 2023 season, the Weevils are hungry for a fresh start and new beginnings as they look toward the potential of their 2024 run.

With 52 total points, UAM sits seven points behind Oklahoma Baptist and three points ahead of East Central. Defending National Champion Harding University undoubtedly led the pack as the preseason favorite, with 120 total points and 10 first-place votes, followed by Ouachita Baptist in second, Southern Arkansas in third, Henderson State in fourth, and Southeastern Oklahoma State rounding out the top five.
The 2024 Boll Weevil roster will be released on uamsports.com as the season opener nears. UAM is set to host the Rangers of Northwestern Oklahoma State on Thursday, Sept. 5 for a 6:00 p.m. kickoff at Willis “Convoy” Leslie Cotton Boll Stadium.
