A crash on U.S. Highway 82 south of Hamburg, Arkansas, on September 18, 2024, claimed the life of Mary Howard Lenard, 55, of West Monroe, Louisiana. Lenard was driving a 2023 Hyundai Palisade when it crossed into the westbound lane, colliding with a 2017 Kenworth truck driven by Larry Wayne Sledd, 64, of Fountain Hill.
Both vehicles caught fire, and Glen Edward Lenard, 64, a passenger in the Hyundai, and Sledd were injured. The crash occurred under clear and dry conditions. The injured were taken to the Ashely County Medical Center and UAMS Medical Center. The wreck occurred at 2:30 p.m. CST.
