DUMAS, Ark. – The Dumas Bobcats broke their 10-quarter scoring drought and secured a 28-6 victory over the Lakeside Beavers in their 8-3A Conference opener Friday night, celebrating Homecoming in style.

After a scoreless first quarter, the Bobcats’ offense came alive in the second when quarterback Darnail Walker connected with Marcus Kilgore, Jr. for a 63-yard touchdown pass. Noe Ramirez added the extra point, giving Dumas a 7-0 lead going into halftime.

Dumas wasted no time in the third quarter, with Walker scoring on a 4-yard rush just a minute into the second half. Though the extra point was missed, the Bobcats extended their lead to 13-0. Walker struck again later in the quarter with a 3-yard rushing touchdown, followed by a successful two-point conversion, making it 21-0 with 5:17 remaining in the third.

Lakeside responded with a kickoff return for a touchdown, cutting the score to 21-6, but Dumas answered swiftly. Walker launched a 47-yard touchdown pass to Kilgore, with Ramirez’s extra point sealing the game at 28-6.

With the win, Dumas moves to 1-3 on the season and 1-0 in conference play. The Bobcats will travel to Rison next week. Lakeside also sits at 1-3 and will host McGehee in their next matchup.
