HAMBURG, Ark. – The Warren Lumberjack Tennis team traveled to Hamburg on September 10, 2024, and secured a strong performance, winning 5 out of 8 ranked matches.
In girls’ singles, Presley Reep won her match 7-5, while Jaycee Courtney continued her undefeated streak in conference play with a 6-4 victory in the #2 girls’ category.
In girls’ doubles, Ava Denton and Anna Arroyo remained undefeated in conference play with a 6-3 win in the #1 doubles category.
For the boys’ singles, Braylen Watson took a 7-5 victory, and Caper Groves won 6-3.
Reflecting on the match, Head Coach Michael Richey shared, “We bounced back from struggling at Magnolia really well. The kids had a really positive attitude and played extremely hard. I was proud of this because they didn’t play as well as they normally do the day before. Hamburg always has a solid program so it was a good test for them and they responded well.”
Coach Richey also named Presley Reep as the Saline River Sports Player of the Day for her hard-fought victory in the girls’ #1 singles match. “Presley played in a tight match against Hamburg’s #1 singles girl and came out with the victory. They played many points with long volleys, and Presley never gave up. She won the match in extra sets to secure the victory by two. I am proud of Presley’s hard work and dedication. It’s great to see not only her but also the other players begin to love the game of tennis.”
The Lumberjacks will face Dumas on Thursday in their next match. Go Jacks!
