MCGEHEE, Ark. – The Star City Bulldogs secured their second win of the season Friday night, defeating the McGehee Owls 25-7 on the road. A strong defensive performance and key special teams plays propelled the Bulldogs to victory.

After a scoreless first quarter, McGehee struck first early in the second quarter. Owl running back Arlando Wilson powered through the middle for a 2-yard touchdown, with Jose Fabian adding the extra point to give McGehee a 7-0 lead.

Star City quickly answered, capitalizing on a blocked punt by Peyton Taylor, which set the Bulldogs up at the McGehee six-yard line. Two plays later, quarterback Jacob Boothe ran it in from five yards out, and Javier Magana’s extra point tied the game at 7-7. The score remained locked heading into halftime.

The Bulldogs took control in the third quarter. A high snap on a McGehee punt sailed over the Owl punter’s head, allowing Star City to recover inside the five-yard line. Taylor punched it in from three yards out, though the extra point attempt was blocked, giving Star City a 13-7 lead.

Later in the third quarter, Boothe connected with Taylor for a 23-yard touchdown pass, extending the lead to 19-7 after a missed extra point. Taylor capped off his stellar night early in the fourth quarter with another touchdown run from two yards out, sealing the 25-7 victory for the Bulldogs.

Star City, now 2-0, will travel to Lakeside (Lake Village) next week, while McGehee falls to 0-2 and will face DeWitt on the road.
