CROSSETT, Ark. – The Star City Bulldogs continued their unbeaten streak to move to 4-0 on the season with a commanding 46-0 shutout victory over the Crossett Eagles on the road Friday night.
Star City wasted no time, with Peyton Taylor opening the scoring with a short touchdown rush in the first quarter. A successful two-point conversion put the Bulldogs ahead 8-0 early.
Jacob Boothe added to the lead with an 11-yard touchdown run, though the extra point attempt was blocked, making it 14-0. Zairen Beene further extended the lead with a 26-yard run on a speed sweep to the left, pushing the score to 20-0 with 7:42 remaining in the second quarter.
Taylor then took control with a 22-yard touchdown run off a quarterback power, followed by another successful two-point conversion, giving Star City a 28-0 lead with just over three minutes left in the half. Minutes later, Taylor struck again with a 6-yard touchdown rush, though Crossett blocked the extra point, leaving Star City up 34-0 with just over a minute to go in the second quarter.
Before the half ended, Star City’s Dujuan Haney intercepted a Crossett pass and returned it 31 yards for a pick-six. Although the extra point was blocked, the Bulldogs held a dominant 40-0 lead at halftime.
With the sportsmanship rule in effect in the second half, Star City added one more touchdown courtesy of Parker Wynne, sealing the final score at 46-0.
The Bulldogs improve to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in 8-4A conference play. They will host DeWitt next week, while Crossett, now 0-4 and 0-1 in the conference, will travel to Stuttgart next Friday night.
