MONTICELLO, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello football team will host the #1 ranked Harding University on Thursday, Sept. 19. The teams will see a 6 p.m. kickoff at Willis “Convoy” Leslie Cotton Boll Stadium.
The Boll Weevils are heading into the contest with a strong start to the season, having already etched themselves into the record books. UAM is currently holding a 2-0 record for the third consecutive season, with the second game of the year being the program’s first-ever win in Weatherford, Oklahoma, following a 39-28 win over Southwestern Oklahoma State. Arkansas-Monticello opened the season with a dominant 34-7 victory over Northwestern Oklahoma State on September 5.

Harding University is coming off a perfect 15-0 season, winning the program’s first National Championship in a 38-7 victory over the Colorado School of Mines. This was the school’s first national title since the Bisons won their fourth bowling national title in 1975.
“We’re looking forward to the challenge of competing against Harding,” said Head Coach Hud Jackson. “Our guys understand the battle that it will be, but the opportunity to face a great football team will be a true test to our program. Eat’em up.”

THE MATCHUP
The University of Arkansas at Monticello Football team is taking on Harding for the 59th time in program history. The first meeting came on the road in the 1960 season and was held in Searcy, Arkansas. The result of the contest was a 19-6 Boll Weevil victory.
LAST MEETING
Arkansas-Monticello lost to Harding, 59-19 on the road in 2023. The Boll Weevils tabbed 217 yards of total offense, recording three touchdowns in that contest. Demilon Brown led the air attack, connecting with 18-32 attempts for 183 yards. He hit Arlie Lee for a touchdown in the second. Brown also led the team on the ground, rushing for a net of 15 net yards in the contest, with a long of 24 yards.
All-TIME SERIES
UAM trails in the all-time series, 24-34, with the last 12 match-ups between the two resulting in a win for the Bisons. The Boll Weevils are 11-17 at home against Harding, with the last win in Monticello coming in 2009 on a 44-17 victory. The largest margin of victory for the Weevils came during the 1979 season with a 50-7 win. The Weevils average 20.03 points against the Bisons.
PRE-GAME NOTES
The Boll Weevils are currently sitting 2-0 for the third consecutive season, following a win over NWOSU in week one, followed by UAM’s first road win over SWOSU in program history. Monticello sits fourth in the GAC in scoring and third in total offense, averaging 36.5 points per contest and 440 yards of offense per game. The Boll Weevils land third in the conference in rushing, posting 459 total yards and averaging 229.5 on the ground per game. Defensively, UAM also ranked third in total defense, surrendering 207 yards per contest, and fourth in scoring defense, allowing 17.5 points per game. Offensively, senior quarter back Demilon Brown leads the running game, averaging 81 yards a contest. Isaiah Cross is the top target in the receiving game for UAM, totaling 119 yards on seven receptions.
