OBU Soccer: First Half Goals, Stingy Defense Lead to Road Win

LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas – The Ouachita men’s soccer team earned its second win of the 2024 season by beating Central Baptist College 2-0 on Tuesday night at Burns Park.

Two first half goals and a stingy defense were the difference in the game. Grant Isbell gave the Tigers (2-5-1) a 1-0 lead at the 15-minute mark, and aided to the second goal, assisting Jacoby Welsh’s score in in the 20th minute.

It was Isbell’s first goal and first assist of the season, and he now has four career goals and three career assists. Garcia’s goal was his first at the college level.

The Tiger defense held the Mustangs (4-6) without a shot on goal in the game and just three shots overall. Dillon Staal patrolled the net for the full 90 minutes and earned his second shutout victory of the year.

Ouachita is back at home in Arkadelphia for its next five games. The homestand starts this Saturday, October 5 against Southern Nazarene. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. at Kluck Field.
