Rotary District 6170 to Unveil First Peace Pole in Fordyce on October 29

FORDYCE, Ark. – 10-21-24 – The Rotary International District 6170 is set to host a special event on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, to unveil the district’s first Peace Pole, a monument symbolizing the organization’s commitment to promoting peace. The presentation will take place at Fordyce Peace Park, located at 214 North Main Street, with a gathering beginning at 3:00 p.m. and the formal presentation at 4:00 p.m.

A Peace Pole is a handcrafted monument that displays the message “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in multiple languages. It is recognized as an international symbol of peace, with tens of thousands of Peace Poles installed in countries worldwide, promoting the universal desire for global harmony and understanding.

The installation in Fordyce is part of a broader initiative within Rotary International to spread messages of peace across communities. Plans are already in place for additional Peace Poles to be installed throughout the district in the coming months, serving as visible reminders of the organization’s dedication to fostering global peace.

Local residents and visitors are invited to attend the ceremony and join in this effort to promote peace in Fordyce and beyond.
