Buck Fever Festival Kicks Off in Banks

BANKS, Ark. – Banks, Arkansas’s beloved fall festival, Buck Fever, began with a warm and lively gathering on Saturday, bringing the community together for its annual festivities. Among the highlights was the popular chili cook-off, where Laura Robinson claimed first place, with Lenita Thorton and Rosemary Carrington taking second and third, respectively.

The festival also hosted the 2024 Buck Fever Baggo Tournament, adding to the day’s fun. This year’s winners were Korbin McAuliffe and Kolby Pope in first place, Triston Woodall and Josh Nichols in second, and Erynn Danley and Taylor Danley in third.

Saturday, November 2, also marked the Youth Hunt, where Grant Case won Biggest Buck with an impressive 11-point deer, and Dominic Parks took the award for Biggest Doe. Organizers extended their gratitude to Game Warden Chris Lynch for assisting with the event and scoring entries, posting on social media, “We want to thank Game Warden Chris Lynch for coming and helping us out this year. We appreciate you, Chris.â€

The festival is set to continue with more activities next weekend. The pageant will take place on Friday, November 8, at 6:30 p.m., with additional activities filling downtown Banks on Saturday, November 9. The weekend will close on Sunday with a free chili and soup lunch, followed by a community worship service under the tent.
