RISON, Ark. – Chief Deputy John Cutrell of the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office has been selected as a finalist for the prestigious 2024 Dwayne Yarbrough Distinguished Service Award, presented by the Arkansas Attorney General. This recognition highlights Chief Deputy Cutrell’s outstanding 24-year career in law enforcement and his unwavering dedication to the community.
Over the years, Chief Deputy Cutrell has served in multiple roles within the department, including deputy and captain of patrol and criminal investigations, before assuming his current position as Chief Deputy. His commitment to public service has also earned him titles such as Calhoun County Officer of the Year and Southeast Regional Officer of the Year.
Chief Deputy Cutrell’s heroism was notably displayed earlier this year during a tragic mass shooting incident at the Mad Butcher in Fordyce. He played a critical role in assisting paramedics on the scene, ensuring that victims received immediate medical attention. His actions during this crisis exemplify the dedication and bravery that have defined his career.
