El Dorado, AR—Trent Garner, a Former Special Services Green Beret, will be the guest speaker at a Veterans Day Honor and Remembrance service on Monday.
The service will be held at South Arkansas Regional Hospital Conference Room 1 starting at Noon on November 11.
Chaplain Tom Moore will conduct the service.
Garner is a familiar name in South Arkansas. Garner of El Dorado was elected in 2016 to represent District 27, which includes Calhoun County and parts of Cleveland, Grant, Jefferson, Ouachita, and Union Counties.
He sponsored legislation that established the Stolen Valor Act, gave an extension for an expired driver’s license belonging to a military member, and gave high school graduation credit for completing basic training in the military before graduation from high school.
Senator Garner is a former Special Forces Green Beret who served two tours in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom. His military decorations include a Bronze Star with a V device, a Combat Infantry Badge, and a Special Forces Tab.
Garner graduated from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and the University of Arkansas Law School, earning a Juris Doctor and Master of Arts in Political Science. He is an attorney and a native of Magnolia. He and his wife, Kelly, are Baptist church members and have a son and daughter.
