UAM Blossoms Drop Thursday Night Match to Bison

SHAWNEE, Okla. – Arkansas-Monticello’s Women’s Basketball team faced off against the Bison of Oklahoma Baptist University on Thursday evening inside the Noble Complex. Despite a last minute burst of momentum the Blossoms came out of the match-up with a 70-64 loss to the Bison, to start Great American Conference play 0-2.

Camille Pritchard led the way for Arkansas-Monticello (5-3, 0-2), scoring 21 points in the match-up. Pritchard hit 7-19 field goals on the day and 2-8 on three-pointers, and 5-7 from the free throw line. She also contributed one steal.

Bailey Harris followed close behind on the afternoon, posting 15 points of her own. Harris went 5-13 on field goals and 5-8 from the free throw line, with three rebounds, two assist, and two steals.

Oklahoma Baptist (5-2, 1-0) was led by Mackenzie Crusoe with 26 points.

The Bison won the opening half of the game, outscoring UAM 18-17 in the first quarter and 19-10 in the second. The Blossoms saw a higher field goal percentage over the Bison in the first quater on field goals 40% to 36.84%, but saw the momentum shift in the second 10 minute period. The teams head to the locker room with the Blossoms trailing 37-27.

The second half proved to be a more impressive outing for the Blossoms. UAM posted 21 points to OBU’s 17 in the third, the only leading period in the match, before finishing tied in points, 16-16 with the Bison in the final quarter. Although leading in points in third, the Blossom’s did not improve on either total field goal percentage or 3-point percentage, with OBU holding a higher stake leading to the 70-64 result.

Arkansas-Monticello committed eight turnovers in the entirety of the match.

The Blossoms will travel to Searcy, Arkansas on Thursday, December 12, to take on the Lady Bisons inside the Rhodes-Reaves Field House with tip off set for 5:30 p.m.
