UAM Women’s Basketball Opens Conference With a Loss to Southern Nazarene

BETHANY, Okla. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello women’s basketball team played the first conference game of the 2024-25 season on Tuesday afternoon in an away game against Southern Nazarene University. The Blossoms came out of the match-up with an 88-51 loss to the Crimson Storm.

Haleigh Crews led the way for Arkansas-Monticello (5-2), scoring 12 points in the match-up. Crews hit 6-10 field goals on the day and 0-1 three-pointers. She also contributed four assists.

Camille Pritchard followed close behind on the afternoon, posting 11 points of her own. Pritchard went 4-12 on field goals and 3-6 from range with four rebounds.

Southern Nazarene (4-3) was led by Umi Otsukawith 16 points.

The Storm won the opening half of the game, seeing Southern Nazarene outscore UAM 24-8 in the first quarter and 24-15 in the second. The teams were off to the locker rooms at the half with the Blossoms trailing 48-23.

The second half saw the Storm once again increase their lead over the Blossoms. SNU posted 27 points to UAM’s 12, increasing the advantage to 40 points in the third quarter. The Blossoms outscored the Storm in the fourth quarter, 16-13. SNU held on to the lead for the remainder of the match-up, eventually coming to a close with the Blossoms trailing, 88-51. 

Arkansas-Monticello committed 23 turnovers in the entirety of the match.

The Blossoms will play another conference game on Thursday, December 5. They will travel to Oklahoma Baptist, and the game will tip off at 5:30 p.m.
