WARREN, Ark. – The 31st Annual Martin Luther King Banquet was held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 4 p.m. at St. James A.M.E. Church in Warren, drawing a large crowd to honor the legacy of Dr. King and recognize outstanding community leaders.
This year’s guest speaker was Alonzo Hampton, Head Football Coach for the UAPB Golden Lions and a proud alumnus of Warren High School.
Four individuals were honored for their significant contributions to the community: Marnette Singleton, Houston Marshall, Roshaun Fellows, and Robert Harris. Harris was unable to attend due to illness but was still celebrated for his impact. These honorees were recognized for their dedication and the positive influence they have had on the lives of others in Warren and beyond.
April Harris, APRN, served as Mistress of Ceremony, and Minister Roy Vaughn was the Master of Ceremony. Bro. Curtis Hooper offered a prayer and scripture reading, while Sis. Chanel Hooper, a Warren City Council member and program chairperson, delivered the welcome address.
Several local officials were in attendance, including fellow City Council members Latanza Atkins and Joel Tolefree, as well as Warren Mayor Gregg Reep, who presented a resolution in honor of the event.
A dinner reception was held during the event, giving attendees the opportunity to fellowship and reflect on the evening’s theme of service and community.
The banquet also paid tribute to its founder, Brother Everett Wallace, who started the event 31 years ago. Although Wallace was unable to attend, his vision and commitment to honoring Dr. King’s legacy were acknowledged with deep gratitude.
