Carl “Oompapa” or “Big C” Calloway, 63 of Star City, passed away Monday, January 13, 2025, at his home. He was born October 3, 1961, in Pine Bluff to the late Klondis and Willene Robinson Calloway. He was a 1980 graduate of Warren High School, was a Christian, and Agri Supervisor II for Arkansas Department of Corrections Cummins and Varner Units, retiring after 37 years. Carl loved to watch westerns and car auctions. He enjoyed listening to music. He was an avid outdoorsman in his younger years, and he loved his family.
Survivors include his wife whom he married March 27, 1982, Ruth Anne Elkins Calloway of Star City; two sons, Rodney (Jenny) Calloway of Star City and Ricki Calloway of North Little Rock; special daughter-in-law, Tiffany Reed; a brother, Tim (Katy) Calloway of Warren; a sister, Deanna (Roger) Smith of Hermitage; three grandchildren, Kadence Calloway, Liberty Calloway, and Grayson Kissinger; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Funeral services are 2 P.M. Thursday, January 16, 2025 at Griffin Funeral Chapel in Star City. Visitation is 1-2 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Friends and family are invited to Carl and Ruth Anne’s home after the service.
