MONTICELLO, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello baseball team has released its 50-game schedule for the upcoming year, and it will again be challenging, with some heavy-hitter non-league games and the always-tough Great American Conference schedule.
The Boll Weevils will open the year on the road in Houston, Texas, with three games in the 2025 Houston Winter Invitational. The tournament is hosted by the University of Central Missouri at the Houston Astros’ newly-named stadium, Daikin Park (Previously Minute Maid Park.) This will be the sixth appearance for Arkansas-Monticello in the tournament, with the Boll Weevils previously making the trip in 2013, 2014, 2016, 2020, and 2022. UAM will compete against Mississippi College from the Gulf South Conference (GSC) on Jan. 31 to open the season. The Boll Weevils will have a rematch against tournament host Central Missouri, who knocked UAM out in the 2024 Super Regional, on Feb. 1, followed by a final game against Ashland University, a team Monticello has never played before, on Feb. 2.
Following the Houston trip, the team returns to Weevils Field at the newly named Union Bank Park for a final non-conference series against MIAA member Missouri Western State University. The weekend will see the first-ever night game held on campus, as the team holds a light dedication ceremony in between games during Saturday’s doubleheader. The 5:00 start will be the first game under the lights for UAM. Conference rival Arkansas Tech will travel to Monticello for a mid-week game on Tuesday, February 11.
The non-conference stint should prepare the team for the always-challenging Great American Conference schedule that begins the following weekend at home against Southern Nazarene University. The series will see a series opener on Friday, 14 at 6:00 p.m., followed by a Saturday doubleheader at 1:00.
UAM will host GSC member Delta State University for a mid-week on Feb. 18 at 5:00. This will be the 81st meeting between the Statesmen and the Boll Weevils. The team will then travel to Shawnee, Oklahoma, for a weekend conference series at Oklahoma Baptist University. The series opener will be on Friday, Feb. 21, at 5:00, followed by a doubleheader on Saturday.
Monticello will travel to Christian Brothers University for a Tuesday game on Feb. 25, then hit the road to Arkadelphia, Arkansas for a GAC series against the Reddies of Henderson State University.
The Weevils are on the move again for Clinton, Mississippi, to take on the Choctaws of Mississippi College in a midweek game before returning home for a GAC series against Arkansas Tech University between Mar. 7-8, followed by a Tuesday home game against Delta State University.
UAM will have an away conference series against the Bulldogs of Southwestern Oklahoma State University from Mar. 14-15 before returning home for a non-conference game against Harding, and a GAC series against Northwestern Oklahoma State University the following weekend, followed by a Tuesday match-up with Henderson State.
Monticello’s next three opponents are all from within the state, facing Harding in Searcy from Mar. 28-29 and Ouachita Baptist University the weekend of Apr. 7-8 for a GAC series’, with a midweek against Southern Arkansas between the two.
A road game at Delta State on Apr. 8 is followed by a conference series against Southeastern Oklahoma State University at home on the weekend.
The Boll Weevils’ last four opponents of the season are as follows: Ouachita Baptist in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, on Tuesday, Apr. 15, at 3:00 p.m., East Central in Ada, Oklahoma, for a GAC series, Apr. 18-19, Mississippi College for the final home game of the year on Apr. 22, and rivalry weekend in Magnolia, Arkansas against Muleriders for the final conference series, the weekend of Apr. 25-26.
