Steven Hoyle McMurry passed away on February 8, 2025, in Bentonville, Arkansas, at the age of 78. Born on December 4, 1946, in Hot Springs, Arkansas, Steve lived a life marked by dedication to work, family, and hobbies. For over four decades, Steve built a career at the Massey Ferguson Distribution Center in Memphis, Tennessee. His expertise and commitment led him to retire as the small engine parts manager. Steve’s hobbies included being an avid deer hunter with his father, uncles, and cousins. He collected numerous coins including mis-struck coins from recent years, and a rare “Widow’s Mite”, a genuine bronze coin minted in the Holy Land over 2000 years ago in the century preceding the birth of Jesus. Steve has many model cars and trucks he completed on display in his home. He also enjoyed watching TV with westerns being his favorite. Steve was deeply connected to his family.
He is survived by his sister, Kay Brown (Johnny) of Bentonville, Arkansas; daughter Teresa; nieces Diana Everett (Dave) of Phoenix, Arizona, and Sheila Branham (Sean) of Bentonville; nephew David Brown of Los Angeles, California; grand-niece Kayla Avila (Raul) of Centerton, Arkansas; grand-nephew Chase Branham (Charli) of Bentonville; and great-grandnephew Aiden Avila of Centerton.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Nelson Ray McMurry and Emily Adell Miller McMurry; half-brother John Lewis Scott; and his beloved dog, Sadie.
A graveside service was held on February 18, 2025, at 1:00 PM at McFarland Cemetery in Banks, Arkansas (Highway 275). Family and friends are invited to visit with the family after the service.
