The benefit game doesn’t count on either team’s record as a scrimmage. The Jacks outhit the Wildcats 14-5 after the visitors didn’t record a hit after the third inning. Warren used four pitchers in the contest with Kolby Pope and Ren Reep combining to throw the first three frames. Parker O’Neal tossed the next three innings while freshman Ryan Spears recorded the final three outs to preserve the win. Pope struck out three, while Reep and Ryan Spears each punched out two.

The Lumberjacks struck first in the bottom of the opening frame with an RBI double by Hayden Cathey. Rison tied the game in the second inning, but a two-run double by O’Neal made the score 3-1 in favor of Warren. The Wildcats came back to tie the game in the third inning with back-to-back RBI hits.

The Orange and Black reclaimed the lead when Nathan Spears scored on a wild pitch and added to it when Ryan Spears drove in another run with a single in the bottom of the fourth. Warren tacked on five more runs in the bottom of the sixth on another RBI hit by Cathey and a pair of two-run singles by Antonio Jordan and Tucker McDiarmid to set the final tally at 10-3.

The Lumberjacks travel to Lonoke to face the Jackrabbits in the regular season opener on Monday, March 3. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
