WARREN, Ark. – On a crisp Monday evening at Jim Hurley Jr. Stadium in Warren, the Lumberjacks squared off against Nashville in a non-conference contest that promised plenty of attacking soccer. Both teams wasted no time getting forward; within the opening two minutes, each side nearly found the back of the net.

Nashville drew first blood in the 14th minute. A high, looping header drifted beyond the goalkeeper’s reach, giving the visitors a 1–0 lead. The Lumberjacks nearly equalized just seven minutes later, thanks to a surging run from Jacarlos Marquez, who broke free on goal. However, the Nashville keeper collected the shot, and, in a cruel twist for Warren, the visitors launched a quick counterattack that ended with another Scrapper goal. Suddenly, the Jacks were down 0–2.
Halftime arrived with Warren searching for answers. As the second half kicked off, Warren’s forwards kept making dangerous runs in behind the Nashville defense, but the final pass never quite clicked. Then, in the 44th minute, Nashville played a long ball over the top to their striker, who connected cleanly and powered a low shot past the Warren keeper for a third goal.

Despite the growing deficit, Warren’s captain, Daniel Castillo, refused to quit. He set the tone with a stellar effort in the 50th minute—hammering a wicked, cutting drive from the edge of the box—only for a Nashville center-back to bravely block it. Tenacious as ever, Nashville found a fourth goal in the 65th minute with a precise free kick that left the Warren keeper rooted to the spot.
Even down 0–4, the Lumberjacks kept pressing. In the 69th minute, Marquez whipped a cross across the face of the Nashville goal, but no one could tap it home. Five minutes later, Marquez forced a save with a direct shot at the keeper. Finally, in the 75th minute, Warren found a well-deserved breakthrough when Alexander Bartolo connected from close range and pulled one back for the home side.
Though the match ended in a 4–1 defeat, Warren—now 2–1 on the season—showed spirit and fight, promising better days ahead.
