WARREN, Ark. – Bradley County Medical Center (BCMC) recently welcomed a group of local 10th-grade homeschool students for an informative tour and introduction to healthcare. Led by Clinical Nurse Educator Krissy Morrison, the students learned about the various services BCMC offers as a rural hospital.
During their visit, students engaged with professionals from multiple hospital departments, including Therapy, Lab, Pharmacy, Dietary, Case Management/Utilization Review, and Radiology. As part of their experience, they participated in a mock stroke exam and received stroke education materials from the UAMS IDHI Stroke Program, highlighting the importance of recognizing stroke symptoms quickly.

The students were introduced to the #BeFast stroke assessment method:
- B – Balance: Is there a sudden loss of balance?
- E – Eyes: Is there blurred vision in one or both eyes?
- F – Face: Is there facial droop or a crooked smile?
- A – Arms: Does one arm droop?
- S – Speech: Is speech slurred? Ask the person to say, “The sky is blue.”
- T – Time: Call 911 immediately if these symptoms appear.
The visit served as both an educational opportunity and an introduction to potential healthcare careers, reinforcing BCMC’s commitment to community outreach and health education.
