The Yellowjacks (7-3) outhit the Lumberjacks 8-7 and didn’t commit an error while Warren made two that led to two runs for the visitors. The loss is the first of the season for the Jacks as they move to 6-1 on the year.
Sheridan jumped on top early with an error, RBI double, and RBI single to move in front 2-0 before an out was recorded. However, starting pitcher Ren Reep settled down with a lineout and began a 1-6-3 double play to get out of the inning. The Orange and Black wasted no time getting back into the game as Antonio Jordan led off the bottom half with a double and scored on a Kolby Pope single. Pope would later score on a wild pitch to knot the score at 2-2.
The Yellowjacks started the second frame strong with a walk and run-scoring two-bagger and tacked on an unearned run in the third inning for a 4-2 edge. The Jacks came back when Jordan singled to start the bottom of the third, stole second, and came around to score on another single by Pope.
The score remained 4-3 until the visitors added a pair of runs in the top of the fifth inning to move ahead 6-3. The Lumberjacks were able to claw their way back to within 6-5 when Nathan Spears smashed a monster home run to left-center field to plate two runs. Parker O’Neal worked out of a two-out, bases-loaded jam in the top of the seventh to keep the score 6-5. Warren had a runner on second with one out in the bottom of the inning, but a pickoff and strikeout sealed the one-run victory for Sheridan.

Jordan, Pope, and Reep each tallied two hits for Warren with Spears and Pope registering two RBIs apiece. Reep tossed four innings and allowed four runs (two earned) on four hits with six strikeouts and three walks. O’Neal hurled the final three innings and gave up two runs on four hits with a pair of strikeouts.
The Lumberjacks return to action with another non-conference matchup on Monday, March 17 versus Stuttgart. First pitch on Saint Patrick’s Day from the Warren Sports Complex is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
