WARREN, Ark. (4/22/25) – The Bradley County Medical Center Board of Directors held its April meeting on Tuesday, April 22 inside the conference room at the hospital with financial reports, executive updates, and policy approvals among the topics discussed.
Minutes from the previous meeting were approved before the board before Controller Matt Pace’s update. Pace let the board know most services were slightly down with the exception of the Emergency Department. Gross patient revenue for March totaled $3,733,795 and net operating revenue was $1,864,957. Net income came in at $44,459. The sales tax fund added over $106,000 to put the fund’s total at $5,283,335.88.
CEO/CFO Leslie Huitt began by letting the board know the hospital had to pay Medicare $722,000 because of the cost report settlement in March and had to pay another $299,000 back for fiscal year 2025. Cash is concerning right now because of these payments and collections have been low. She said they will explore an early out vendor for aging private pay accounts. Patients can now make payments online through the patient portal and should help collections as well along with making it easier for patients.
Moving on from financials, Huitt informed the board about Dr. Nasir Zareen donating a LUCAS machine to the ER and she thanked him for his generosity. This machine provides consistent, high-quality compressions during cardiac arrest. The hospital purchased a house on Church Street that will be for physicians. The Auxiliary is buying some of the furnishings, getting some of it donated, and will use the BCMC Thrift Shop to help as well.
Chief Nursing Officer Jamie Wolfe just wanted to brag on the nurse managers. He said they are at the time of year where a lot of people want to use their time off for vacations and the nurse managers have been able to get their schedules done without many complaints and keep their departments staffed.
Chief Operating Officer Leeanna Williams let the board know about the hospital’s booth at the Hogskin Holiday’s Health Fair in Hampton on April 11. She said they received many compliments on Dr. Bradley Biggers and Dr. Michelle Weaver from participants. Additionally, she reported that officials from CABUN Rural Health Services stopped by and thanked BCMC for the service they’ve experienced for their patients. They were very complimentary of the Emergency Department and Radiology.
Next on the docket were annual approvals. The policy manuals for Compliance, Laboratory, and the BCMC Rural Health Clinic were put up for a vote and all three were approved unanimously.
The board went into executive session and medical staff recommendations were approved before the meeting was adjourned.
