Warren, Ark. – Bradley County Medical Center was recently recognized by the UAMS Institute for Digital Health and Innovation Stroke Program for its outreach efforts led by BCMC Clinical Nurse Educator Krissy Morrison. Stroke-ready hospitals like BCMC are required to do a certain number of outreach events every month and Morrison goes above and beyond in getting stroke education out to the public in person at events or through other means like social media.
Morrison would like to remind the public to B.E.F.A.S.T when it comes to strokes.
B – Balance: Is there a sudden loss of balance?
E – Eyes: Is there blurred vision in one or both eyes?
F – Face: Is there facial droop or a crooked smile?
A – Arms: Does one arm droop?
S – Speech: Is speech slurred? Ask the person to recite, “The Sky is Blue.”
T – Time: Time to call 911! Time is of the essence. Know your nearest stroke-ready hospital!
