MORO BAY, Ark. – 4-11-25 – Moro Bay State Park this week announced a temporary closure due to rising waters from the Ouachita River, which is currently at 87.00 feet and continuing to rise.
According to the park’s statement, the National Weather Service is predicting the river could crest between Sunday and Monday, with an additional rise of 2 to 3 feet expected. Should this occur, the river could reach or exceed 89.00 feet—levels approaching the highest recorded crests in the park’s history. The record high was 89.95 feet in 1968, followed by a crest of 89.30 feet in 2018.

All guest reservations for the next seven days have been canceled as a safety precaution. However, park officials noted that the river has already crested and begun to fall slightly upriver near Camden.
“We don’t see any major damages presently,” the park stated in its update. “We plan to reopen as soon as the water recedes where we can safely do so.”
Visitors are encouraged to monitor updates from Moro Bay State Park for reopening announcements and further safety advisories.
