Peggy McNeer Saunders was born on Saturday, January 10, 1943, in Cleveland Mississippi to Doty and Bessie Jane (Robinson) McNeer. She passed peacefully on April 11, 2025, at the age of 82, at Chapel Woods Health and Rehabilitation. She was a 1961 graduate of Warren High School. She was number seven of the eight McNeer children.
Preceding her in death, other than her parents, were brothers, Donnell McNeer, Lester McNeer, Robert (Buddy) McNeer, and Willie Gale McNeer, one sister, Susie McNeer Sumrall.
Survivors include one son, Doty Saunders of Independence, Louisiana, and three daughters, Tamara Saunders, Warren, AR and Gia Morse of New Edinburg, AR, and Jana Saunders Chapman of Star City. She is also survived by two siblings, a brother, Chester McNeer of Drew, Mississippi, and one sister, Joy Hays of Winnsboro, Louisiana. Peggy is also survived by a colossal number of nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Peggy enjoyed playing the piano with her family singing alongside her. Peggy learned to play by ear and was playing for her church by the age of seven. She learned to read music around age nine and continued to play gospel music throughout her life. She even played for the other residents during her stay at Chapel Woods. She was an amazing pianist and a wonderful southern cook, and seamstress. Peggy also enjoyed crafting, sewing, singing, shopping in thrift stores, cooking and creating recipes, sharing her creations with others, as well as traveling. She attended Central Missionary Baptist Church in Warren.
Her services will be 2:00PM Thursday, April 17th at Frazer’s Chapel. Burial in Oakland Cemetery by Frazer’s Funeral Home. Visitation will be 1:00PM till service time on Thursday at Frazer’s Chapel. Pallbearers include John Chapman, Chris Thompson, Brandon Temple, Hunter Temple, Davian Biggs, and Dylan Ingram. Honorary Pallbearers include her favorite son, Doty Saunders and her favorite grandson, Preston McBay.
