MCGEHEE, Ark. – Lauren Twomey, a paramedic student at the University of Arkansas at Monticello College of Technology-McGehee (UAM-CTM), recently received the Star of Life award, recognizing her commitment to patient care and community service as an emergency medical technician (EMT). Twomey was nominated by her employer, Emergency Ambulance Services, Inc., for her work in emergency medical services (EMS) and was honored at the Stars of Life Celebration on March 12 at the Arkansas State Capitol.

The celebration, hosted by the Arkansas Ambulance Association, is an annual event recognizing EMS professionals statewide. It honors individuals and educates legislators on the role of EMS in public safety. This year’s event included a medal presentation, legislative meetings and a recognition luncheon.

“We are incredibly proud of Lauren for this well-deserved recognition,” Manda Leftwich-Tharp, program director of EMS at UAM-CTM said. “Her passion for EMS and her commitment to providing life-saving care reflect the quality of our program and the profession.”
