LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Warren High School senior Cody Weatherspoon is taking his talents and leadership to the next level—both on and off the field—as he officially enlisted in the Arkansas Army National Guard this week. Standing proudly outside the U.S. Military Entrance Processing Station in Little Rock, Weatherspoon marked the beginning of a new chapter in his life filled with service, education, and opportunity.
A multi-sport athlete for the Warren Lumberjacks, Weatherspoon has been a key contributor to the school’s football, basketball, and track programs. Now, he’s preparing to continue that same drive and discipline as a Private First Class (PFC) in the National Guard, where he has enlisted as a 91B, Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic.
Following his enlistment, Weatherspoon plans to attend Arkansas State University (A-State) to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering. Through his commitment to the Guard, he will receive numerous benefits including waived college tuition and fees, monthly pay, federal tuition assistance, college credit hours for training, and valuable skill development for life after graduation.
“We can’t wait to see what your future holds,” Warren High School shared in a congratulatory post.
Supporters and leaders in the Guard welcomed him with pride. “Everyone help me in welcoming Cody Weatherspoon into the Arkansas Army National Guard,” wrote Guard member Keitrich Brewer Jr. “He’s gaining skills, education, and experiences that will benefit him far beyond the classroom.”
As he closes out his senior year at Warren High, Cody Weatherspoon continues to represent the very best of Lumberjack spirit—hardworking, determined, and always moving forward.
Congratulations, Cody! Warren is proud of you.
