Lady Jacks Fall to Monticello in Regional Tournament Matchup

The Warren Lady Jacks battled early but ultimately fell to the Monticello Lady Billies 13-6 on Friday in Regional Tournament play.

Warren struck first in the top of the 1st inning. Ember Johnson led off with a single, followed by an RBI single from Charlee Wardlaw. Bayleigh Miller drew a walk, and Presley Reep drove in two more runs with a double to give the Lady Jacks a 3-0 lead.

Monticello responded with two runs in the bottom half of the inning to close the gap.

Breize Fellows opened the 2nd with a single, and Blythe Callaway followed with a base hit of her own. With two outs, Wardlaw struck again with an RBI double, pushing the lead to 4-2. The Lady Billies were retired in order in the bottom of the frame.

Monticello trimmed the lead to 4-3 in the 3rd inning with a two-out solo home run. Warren put runners aboard in the 4th and 5th innings but couldn’t bring them home, keeping the score tight.

The bottom of the 5th proved costly for the Lady Jacks. Monticello broke the game open with an eight-run surge on six hits and two walks to seize an 11-4 advantage.

Warren attempted a comeback in the 6th as Haven Johnson singled and Ember Johnson drove her in with an RBI single. Raeleigh Milton later added an RBI hit with two outs, making it 11-6, but Monticello responded with two more runs in their half of the inning.

The Lady Jacks went down in order in the 7th as the Lady Billies secured the 13-6 win.

Warren’s offense was led by Ember Johnson, who went 3-for-4. Blythe Callaway was 2-for-3, while Charlee Wardlaw and Natalie Hargrave each finished 2-for-4. Bayleigh Miller added a 1-for-3 performance, and Haven Johnson, Raeleigh Milton, Presley Reep, and Breize Fellows each contributed with a hit in four at-bats.
