Vice President Trenna Kemp called the meeting to order. The minutes from the April meeting had been distributed via email and printed copies were available. A motion to accept the minutes as presented was made by David Kemp and seconded by Linda Hornaday. The motion passed.

Treasurer Linda Hornaday presented the financial statement, which will be filed for audit following a brief discussion.

Roger McClellan thanked attendees for their support of the New Edinburg All School Reunion. Approximately 140 people participated in the event, which was catered by Dorey’s Catfish Company and sponsored by Re-New-ing Edinburg. Described as a great success, the group voted to hold the reunion again on April 18, 2026, the weekend before Fordyce on the Cotton Belt. The motion was made by McClellan and seconded by Melody Spears.

McClellan also reported that the shelves approved for purchase in April had been installed in the community center’s storage room. In addition, necessary repairs to the storage room and shower room locks were completed.

The group noted that participation in the Great American Cleanup is ongoing, with around 17 individuals picking up roadside litter in their respective areas. The project is set to conclude on May 31.

Melody Spears provided an update on the Jeremy Reynolds fundraiser, calling the event a “great success.” Volunteers contributed a total of 122 hours in preparation and execution.

Kemp reminded the group that the Kickstart Cleveland County 10-year anniversary banquet will be held Thursday, May 22 at 6:00 p.m. at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds in Rison. Around 20 individuals from the New Edinburg area have registered to attend. During the event, the Re-New-ing Edinburg Volunteer of the Year will be honored alongside other Kickstart group volunteers.

Patricia McClellan informed attendees that the community center’s sign would soon require repairs. She also raised the issue of a damaged eagle ornament atop the flagpole, which was broken during recent storms.

A motion was made by Hornaday, seconded by David Kemp, to host a “Back-to-School Splash” on July 26. The motion carried.

In support of local emergency services, Spears made a motion to donate $1,500 to the New Edinburg Volunteer Fire Department. The funds were raised during the spring junk hunt, an event that received strong community backing. Don Triplett seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.

With no further business, a motion to adjourn was made and seconded. The meeting concluded successfully.
