The Rotary Club of Warren met Tuesday, June 24 inside First Methodist Church. The program began with a thank you letter from the American Legion for the Rotary Club for sponsoring one person each for Arkansas Boys State and Girls State.
Then President Dana Harvey introduced Carol Forrest of Chapel Woods Health and Rehabilitation. Forrest then introduced Tammy McGuire, who is the Director of Regional Admissions for Reliance Health Care, which is over 30 long-term care facilities in Arkansas, including Chapel Woods. McGuire’s area includes Chapel Woods along with facilities in El Dorado, Texarkana, and Camden. McGuire spoke to the crowd about the difference between custodial care and skilled care. Custodial care consists of non-medical care such as daily activities like bathing and dressing that can be carried out by non-licensed caregivers. Skilled care is medically necessary like wound care or catheter care and must be done by a licensed medical professional. McGuire then went on to talk about other services available at Chapel Woods such as respite care, hospice, short-term rehab, and memory care. Both her and Forrest then answered a few questions from the group and wanted input on how they can better serve the community. The Rotary Club of Warren’s next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, July 8.
