MONTICELLO, Ark. – Sunni Deb Weaver, a recent graduate of the University of Arkansas at Monticello (UAM), has officially joined the Arkansas Archeological Survey’s UAM Research Station as a full-time archeological assistant.

Weaver earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science and a Bachelor of Science in psychology from UAM in May 2025. She is no stranger to the station, having worked part-time in the research lab for the past two years while completing her studies. Her experience and dedication have already proven valuable in her new role, where she has taken the lead on artifact collection inventory efforts and is actively participating in public education outreach.

Just one day into her new position, Weaver teamed up with the station archeologist to present to a group of 7th graders attending a summer camp at UAM’s Taylor House. The team described her as having “hit the ground running.”

“We are very happy that she wanted to stay with us as her career unfolds,” the station shared via Facebook.

The public will soon have a chance to meet Weaver during upcoming open lab volunteer days, which are set to begin Wednesday, July 23. Community members are encouraged to stop by and congratulate her in person.
