Birdie Annette Colvin, 1944-2025

Birdie Annette Colvin was born on Jan. 13th , 1944, to the late Ottis &   Birdie Perkins of Columbus, Mississippi. She met and married the love of her life, the late Reverend Vernon Colvin, while attending Southern Bible College in Houston, Texas. Three children were born into their family:

Veronica (Kevin) Powers of Warren, Arkansas, Vernon II (Tammy) Colvin of Warren, Arkansas, Christy (Scott) Corker of Greenbrier, Arkansas. While pastoring in Kansas they added an “adopted” son: Robert (Dee Ann) Bullock of Redfield, Arkansas.

Annette spent her life loving God and loving people. She ministered alongside her husband as they pastored in Ruskin, Florida and then went on to travel as evangelists for eight years, holding six services a week where she played the organ as her husband ministered to people. In 1976 Annette and Vernon went to pastor Gospel Lighthouse in Wichita, Kansas, where she started and ran a Christian daycare and school for the church. Followed by going to the border of Mexico from 1986-1988 to run a mission where they helped the poor with untold amounts of food, clothing, and support.

In 1991 Annette returned to Warren, Arkansas, with her husband and they pastored Lighthouse Church where she again started and ran a Christian daycare along with running The Pizza Place restaurant.

After her husband passed, she continued loving God and people as she started Colvin’s General Store and more than making a sale, she spent time listening to and praying for those who passed her way. Even in her final days as a resident of Golden Oaks Care Home she continued ministering to the workers and residents she was with.
