The Rotary Club of Warren met Tuesday, Aug. 26 inside the Fellowship Hall at First Methodist Church for its final meeting of the month. Rotarian Dennen Cuthbertson presented the program of Russell Gregory, M.D., to the group. Dr. Gregory is the newest physician at the BCMC Rural Health Clinic, located at 304 East Central Street in Warren, across the street from the hospital. Dr. Gregory just recently began practicing family medicine at the clinic earlier this month on Aug. 4.
He is from Magnolia, Ark., and his wife, Amber, is from Rison, Ark. They are both excited to be close to home and in Bradley County. Dr. Gregory graduated from SAU in Pre-Health Studies before going to Grenada in the West Indies to obtain his Doctor of Medicine from St. George’s University School of Medicine. He then was a research assistant in Miami, Fla., before most recently completing his residency at UAMS Southwest in Texarkana, Ark. Once he was done with his background he spent a few minutes talking about the strong relationship you should have with your primary care provider. He shared a personal story from his residency when he knew something was off with a patient of his despite the local Emergency Department not finding anything wrong, but once he was sent back to the ER with an order to run some brain scans, it turns out the patient was having a stroke. He says you see so many people hesitate when someone asks who their PCP is and that should be the case. You should know your PCP easily by name and vice versa and he’s looking forward to developing those strong relationships with his patients. Additionally, he also mentioned he was a Rotarian for a time and thanked the club for all they do in the community and just how important Rotary and other civic clubs are.
