Hermitage Edges South Side in High-Scoring 8-Man Season Opener

GREENBRIER, Ark. – The Hermitage Hermits opened their 2025 8-man football season in thrilling fashion Friday night, outlasting the South Side Hornets of Bee Branch in a shootout, 72-66, at Greenbrier.

Led by Head Coach Roger Martin, the Hermits showed resilience and determination in a contest that saw both offenses exchanging scores at a rapid pace. When the final horn sounded, Hermitage held the edge, securing its first victory of the season.

The win moves the Hermits to 1-0 on the year, giving players, coaches, and fans plenty to celebrate. Following the game, the team joined cheerleaders, supporters, and school staff under the scoreboard to savor the hard-fought result.

School officials praised the athletes for their effort both on and off the field and encouraged the community to continue showing support throughout the season. Fans were urged to wear Hermit colors, decorate their homes and businesses, and rally behind the team as the season progresses.

Hermitage will look to build on its strong start when they face Guy-Perkins on September 5.
