Virginia ‘Frisk’ Hampton, 1940-2025

Virginia ‘Frisk’ Hampton, 85, of Warren, passed away August 22, 2025. Born August 13, 1940, to the late Kenny Charles ‘KC’ and Esther Hampton.

Virginia received her early education within Bradley County Public Schools and graduated from Bradley County High School in 1959. She joined Bethel AME Church at a young age. She was a member of the choir and would occasionally lead songs as a soloist. She remained a faithful member until her health began to fail but even then, she served from home.

She loved people and life. She enjoyed being a mother, not only her own children, but she was also mother and grandmother to many, many more. Everyone that came in contact with her absolutely loved her. She was not a judgmental person and often got upset when others would say anything about someone else in a disparaging way.

The North End has truly lost a ‘diamond.’ But diamonds are forever…her smile, contagious laughter, rosy cheeks and ‘poppin red lips’ will be missed.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Henry ‘Hollywood’ Hampton.

She is survived by her children, Denisa Hammock (Timothy), Larry Smith, Priscilla Vincent (Jessie), Jackie Mitchell, Freddie Hampton and Jill Dawn (Kenneth), who was her first grandchild whom she raised like one of her own; sisters, Eula Riley of Warren, AR, Mary McCray of Baltimore, MD, Vicki Ferrell (Lee) of Grand Prairie, TX; brother, Robert ‘Duke’ Hampton of Denver, CO; special friends, Ruth Clary, Lois Davis, Ann Slater, Helen Stilwell; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service was held August 30th at Bethel AME Church in Warren, AR with Pastor Debra Cooper officiating and Rev. Kenneth Dawn eulogist. Burial was in Union Cemetery, Warren. Arrangements by Hammons Funeral Home.
