WARREN, Ark. – Work is underway on the Town Branch in Warren, with both the City of Warren and the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ArDOT) addressing separate problem areas along the waterway.
Crews were on scene over the weekend and into Monday at multiple locations. ArDOT worked on the section of the Town Branch under Main Street after issues were discovered with the concrete culvert. Because Main Street is a state highway, ArDOT took responsibility for the project. Workers used an excavator to repair the culvert, where water had been cutting underneath the concrete. The erosion threatened to destabilize nearby fencing at Dr. George’s office during heavy flooding periods.
To the northeast, the City of Warren had contractors working on the south side of the Town Branch. Crews reshaped the bank to create a more gradual slope and placed additional grey rock along the branch. The work is aimed at slowing erosion that has been damaging nearby property.
City and state officials noted the improvements are intended to reduce future flooding damage and help protect surrounding infrastructure.
