David Jay Brown, age 74, passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at his home in Benton, Arkansas.

He was born in Dewey, Oklahoma on November 8, 1950, son of the late D. J and Vera Louise Brown. He is survived by his loving wife Susan Renee Brown, son Drew Brown and spouse Amanda, stepdaughter Nakia Bartlett and spouse Travis Bartlett and cherished grandchildren Tucker and Rayah Brown. He is also survived by his sister Karen Mason, nephews and niece and a multitude of lifelong friends. Preceding him in death are his parents and sister, Marylou Shoff.
David graduated from Dewey High School and attended college at Kansas State University where he played football for the Wildcats from 1969-1973. He was married to Susan on May 05, 2001, and they made their home in Benton, Arkansas. For much of his life David worked in sales. He was very outgoing and never met a stranger. One great passion of his was football and his lifelong friends, who lovingly knew him as “Head Brown”. A thrill of David’s life was watching his son, Drew and his grandchildren, Tucker and Rayah, play sports. In his later years he would follow their games by watching them on his iPad. He had a loving relationship with his stepdaughter Nakia, who He thought the world of. Most of all, He was a devoted husband who loved and admired his wife. If you talked to him for very long, he would tell you about her many work accomplishments, her baking business and her joy of exercising in the neighborhood. He showed his love to Susan by taking care of small details like washing and servicing her car and having it full of fuel, so it was ready to drive. Anytime there was icy weather David would surprise Susan by being there to drive her home from work to make sure she was safe. David loved to cook delicious food during holidays and for family gatherings. He always added his upbeat enthusiasm to make those times special for everyone. With great sadness, he will be missed, but our family finds comfort in knowing that he is rejoicing in heaven.
