From the opening possession, Warren set the tone. After Star City won the toss and went three-and-out on its first series, the Lumberjacks needed only two plays to strike. Quarterback Jackson Denton found Josiah Steen on a 10-yard touchdown pass with 9:50 remaining in the first quarter. Kevin Marquez drilled the extra point for a 7–0 lead.

Josiah Steen scores a first half touchdown.

The Bulldogs immediately answered, taking the ensuing kickoff 85 yards to the end zone at 9:37 to even the score at 7–7. But Warren wasted no time regaining control. Just 11 seconds later, Denton connected deep with Bleyze Fellows for an 85-yard touchdown strike. Marquez’s extra point made it 14–7.

Warren wasn’t done with the big plays in the first quarter. With 1:18 left, Denton aired it out again, this time for a 94-yard bomb to Tayshawn Edwards, pushing the lead to 21–7 after Marquez’s kick.

The Lumberjacks opened the second quarter the same way they ended the first — scoring fast and often. At 11:48, Denton hit Steen again, this time for a 39-yard touchdown to stretch the lead to 28–7. Moments later, Aaron Davis punched in a 3-yard rushing touchdown with 10:29 remaining, and Marquez’s fifth straight PAT made it 35–7.

Warren’s offense capped its dominant first half with one more touchdown before the break — an 18-yard pass from Denton to Fellows at 4:12. Marquez added the extra point for a 42–7 lead. Steen then intercepted a Bulldog pass with 1:54 left to preserve the advantage heading into halftime.

With a 35-point margin at the break, the sportsmanship rule went into effect, and a running clock shortened the second half. Star City managed a late 55-yard rushing touchdown with 11:15 left in the fourth quarter against Warren’s second-team defense to cut the deficit to 42–14, but the outcome was never in doubt.

The Lumberjacks improved to 5–2 overall and 3–1 in 8-4A Conference play. Warren will travel to Stuttgart next Friday, October 24, for another key conference matchup.
