This impactful exhibit explores the life and legacy of Emmett Till, the 14-year-old boy whose 1955 lynching became a catalyst for the Civil Rights movement, and the courageous activism of his mother, Mamie Till-Mobley. Her insistence that the world “see what they did to my boy” changed the course of history and galvanized generations to come.

Through photographs, oral histories, and interactive displays, the exhibit highlights the lasting effects of Till’s story and connects the past to the present in a deeply personal way. The exhibit will run through Sunday, Jan. 4, 2026.

About the ExhibitThis exhibition was created by The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis in collaboration with the Emmett Till Interpretive Center and the Till family. It is part of a national effort to honor Mamie Till-Mobley’s legacy and inspire truth-telling, justice, and remembrance.
