The Rotary Club of Warren met Tuesday, Oct. 14 inside First Methodist Church for its first meeting of October. The group heard from WHS Junior Rotarians Ember Johnson and Adair Gonzalez to kick off the meeting after lunch was served. The main program for the day followed with Rotarian Andrew Tolbert stepping in for Rotarian Marnette George to introduce Julie Hamilton, the Warren Branch Library Manager. Hamilton gave a detailed speech about the library and all the positive things it does for the community. She made sure to emphasize that while the library is obviously about books there are so many other things it does including free Wi-Fi for people who need to get on the internet for research purposes or to apply to jobs. There are also after school programs, summer programs, and much more available through getting your library card. Leah St. John of the Friends of the Library was also in attendance and informed the Rotary Club of what their group is doing and how they are becoming more active. There are several events scheduled during National Friends of Libraries Week that runs from Oct. 19-25. Both answered a few questions before the meeting was adjourned.
