WARREN, Ark. – Warren Elementary School is proud to announce that it has been awarded a $5,000 grant from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation (DGLF) to support its youth literacy program, “Jacked Up on Reading.” The grant was accepted by Media Specialist Cassidy Cathey on behalf of the school and will be used to enhance reading instruction through the purchase of new technology and books designed to strengthen students’ reading comprehension skills.
This local grant is part of more than $3.5 million recently awarded by the Dollar General Literacy Foundation to schools, libraries, and nonprofit organizations across the country. These funds aim to expand educational opportunities and help K–12 students build a brighter future through literacy.
“As the immense need for accessible educational materials and resources for our country’s youth continues, we are proud to provide vital support to local literacy programs,” said Denine Torr, executive director of the Dollar General Literacy Foundation. “The Dollar General Literacy Foundation believes every investment in the education of a young student is an investment in a brighter future. We are grateful to the local schools, libraries, and nonprofit organizations that are serving students and helping them thrive.”
The Dollar General Literacy Foundation supports programs that increase access to educational resources, inspire innovation in instruction, and foster a love of reading. Each year, the Foundation awards grants to qualifying organizations located within a 15-mile radius of a Dollar General store or distribution center.
