Weatherspoon Represents Warren at State Capitol Career Event

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – 2025 Warren High School graduate Cody Weatherspoon was one of three students from across Arkansas selected to speak at the Arkansas Applied Campaign Kickoff Event held this morning at the State Capitol.

Weatherspoon shared his personal story of choosing to enlist in the Arkansas Army National Guard and his plans to attend Arkansas State University following basic training. He also spoke about the guidance he received from Warren High School’s College and Career Coach, Ms. Alexis McMahan, during his senior year.

Arkansas officials in attendance included State Senator Jane English, Army National Guard Recruiting Commander Eric Scarborough, and Assistant Director for the Division of Career and Technical Education, Dr. Sonja Wright-McMurray.

During the program, speakers emphasized the mission of the Arkansas Applied Campaign, which encourages high school graduates to “Enlist, Enroll, and Employ.” The initiative highlights the importance of the state’s College & Career Coach Program in helping students chart their post-graduation paths through military service, higher education, or immediate employment.
