The Rotary Club of Warren met Tuesday, Nov. 25 inside First Methodist Church at noon for its second meeting of the month. Rotarian Dr. Bob Smalling presented his own program to the crowd.
Dr. Smalling began with some background information and shared that he and his wife, Jan, checked off visiting all 50 states a while back with their last stop being North Dakota. He mentioned that they had shirts there commemorating visiting all 50 states and were able to get one. This led to the main portion of his program, which focused on Club 52, a rewards program by Arkansas State Parks that encourages people to visit all 52 of the state parks in Arkansas. They were able to complete this and join Club 52 earlier this year. Dr. Smalling touched on some of his favorite state parks, talked about the Visitor Centers at a few of them, and spoke on the ones with lodges and restaurants. The Club 52 program features a passport booklet that has a space to get a stamp or stamp rubbing for each state park. Dr. Smalling ended the program by encouraging others to go on this adventure to join Club 52. The Rotary Club of Warren will meet Tuesday, Dec. 9 for its only meeting of the month of December.
