In her announcement, Johnson wrote, “This town has given me so much, and now it’s my turn to give back — because when you love your community, you don’t wait for change… you become the change.” She added, “I’m beyond excited to share that I’m running for Mayor of Kingsland!”

Johnson said her decision “comes straight from the heart,” adding, “I love this community — the people, the spirit, and the way we show up for one another — and I believe it’s time for leadership that does the same.” She noted her experience working with residents, families, organizations, and neighbors, saying, “That’s what inspired me to step up and run.”

She described her goal as providing leadership that “listens, unites, and gets things done,” stating that Kingsland “deserves a mayor who leads with integrity, compassion, and action — not just words.”

Johnson said she plans to spend the next several months connecting with residents. “Over the next few months, I’ll be out connecting with folks, hearing your ideas, and sharing my vision for a stronger, safer, and more vibrant Kingsland,” she wrote. “This campaign isn’t just mine — it’s ours. Together, we can create the kind of future our community deserves.”

She added that she is prepared to work on behalf of the community, saying, “I’m ready to work hard, to listen, and to fight for the people of this town every single day.” Johnson said she would be honored to have local support, writing, “Let’s make history — together.”
