Circuit Judge Crews Puryear has been notified by the Arkansas Secretary that he has been certified as a candidate for re-election to the10th Judicial Circuit Judgeship, Division 1 in the March 3 election. The 10th Judicial District includes Ashley, Bradley, Chicot, Desha and Drew Counties.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed serving as Circuit Judge and would consider it an honor to have the opportunity to serve another term. I promise to continue to be fair, impartial, follow the law and treat everyone with respect that comes into the courtroom. I look forward to speaking with people throughout the district and ask for their continued support.”
In addition to his duties on the bench, Judge Puryear was recently appointed to the Arkansas Board of Certified Court Reporter Examiners, an appointment made by the Chief Justice of the Arkansas Supreme Court.
Prior to taking the bench, Puryear worked with the 10th Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney’s office for 13 years. As a deputy prosecutor, he also served as the attorney for the Chicot County Quorum Court. He is a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville School of Law and obtained his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Arkansas at Monticello where he was a member of the UAM baseball team. Puryear is past President of the Southeast Arkansas Legal Institute.
Puryear and his wife, Kara, have been married 16 years and have two sons. They are active members of the First Baptist Church of Dumas where he serves as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher. Both are involved with Operation Christmas Child and the FBC-Dumas Kidzlife Program. He also serves on the UAM Foundation Board. Puryear is a member of the 5th generation of his family to reside in Desha County.
